We build for one trade, in one country

Painting and decorating businesses in New Zealand, and the work they actually get asked for.

Painting businesses we build for: house painters, roof and exterior crews, commercial contractors, wallpaper hangers, decorators, new-build subbies, sole traders with a ute, two-van outfits. Jobs their sites are built around: weatherboard repaints, iron roof coatings, rental turnarounds, villa interiors, body corporate blocks, school holiday repaints, feature walls, fences and decks, plaster and masonry, shopfits after hours.

Five things that quietly cost painters work

None of these look like a problem from the driver's seat. They show up as the enquiry that never came, or the homeowner who rang the next name on the list.

  1. The photos never leave the phone

You finish a villa in Ponsonby, take four photos on the way to the ute, and they stay in the camera roll. The one job that would have sold the next three is never seen by anyone deciding tonight.

Costs you: the comparison you would have won.

  2. Every enquiry starts with a phone call you miss

You are three metres up a ladder with a roller in one hand. The phone rings out, there is no form to fill in instead, and the caller has two more painters on the list.

Costs you: the first enquiry of the evening.

  3. Nobody can tell whether you cross the harbour

Your site says "servicing the wider region". The person reading it lives in Birkenhead and cannot tell if that includes them, so they keep scrolling through the search results.

Costs you: work in half the suburbs you drive to.

  4. One page tries to cover roofs, interiors and shopfits

A property manager wanting a stairwell repainted, a homeowner with a rusting roof and a builder chasing a subbie all land on the same paragraph about quality workmanship.

Costs you: the jobs you most want.

  5. Nothing has changed on it since the year it was built

The mobile number belongs to a van you sold, the gallery stops at a job from six seasons ago, and the winter special is still up in February.

Costs you: trust, before anyone speaks to you.

The same five, one at a time

  1. Photos

A gallery that takes the camera roll off your phone

Send the pairs as you finish jobs. We crop them, group them by exteriors, interiors, roofs and paper, and caption each one with the suburb and the prep, so a homeowner finds a house like theirs in two taps.

  2. Enquiries

A quote form that works while you are up the ladder

It asks what you would ask: inside or out, storeys, cladding, condition, suburb and when they want it done, with photos attached. You read it at smoko instead of ringing back blind.

  3. Areas

Every suburb you actually drive to, named

A page listing the suburbs and towns you cover, repeated in the footer, plus a line about jobs a bit further out. No invented town pages for places you would never quote.

  4. Services

A page for each kind of work you do

Roofs, exteriors, interiors, wallpaper, commercial, new builds: only the ones you do, each with its own photos, its own questions answered and its own quote button.

  5. Upkeep

5 changes a month, made by us

Text or email the change: a new number, a fresh pair of photos, a price rise, a "booked to March" line. It goes up and you get told when it is live.

What that adds up to

  • Someone comparing three painters at 9pm can see your work, your suburbs and your prep without ringing anyone.
  • Enquiries arrive with enough detail to price the job or book a look, instead of "how much to paint a house?".
  • The work you want more of sits on its own page, so that is what people ask for.
  • Your site still says the right thing in month eight, because changing it takes one text message.
  • The website stops being a job on your list and becomes something that runs without you.

What we will not tell you: how many jobs the site will bring in, or where it will sit on Google. Nobody honestly can.

The summer-season board

Exterior work in New Zealand runs on the weather. From Labour Weekend to about March the phone should be doing the selling; from May to August there is time to write things properly. So we split the build the same way.

October to March

Live before the season starts

  1. Exterior gallery, sorted

Last summer’s weatherboard and roof jobs, before and after, up before the first dry week.

  2. Roof and exterior pages live

Separate pages for iron roofs, tiles, weatherboards and plaster, because that is what people search in spring.

  3. Quote form asking about access

Storeys, scaffolding, roof pitch and rust, so summer quotes are priced from the first message.

  4. A booking-status line

"Taking exterior work from November." One line that stops the "can you start next week" calls.

  5. Suburbs checked

The list matches where you will really travel in the busy months, not last year’s run.

May to August

Fine to wait for the wet months

  1. Interior and wallpaper pages

Written up properly in the wet months, ready for the winter indoor work.

  2. Colour consultation page

What it covers, the fee, how to book. A good rainy-week job.

  3. Commercial or trade section

Sectors, health and safety, a tender contact, once the summer rush is off.

  4. Longer job write-ups

The heritage villa, the body corporate block: written while the weather keeps you inside.

  5. Reviews you have collected

Ask through summer, add them in winter, with the customers’ permission.

On the first call we work out which side of the board you are on. If you ring in September we build the exterior half first and leave the rest for the changes you send later.

The same painting business, before and after

Drag the handle. On the left, the kind of site plenty of painting businesses still have. On the right, the structure the plan builds, filled with your own photos and words.

Sample design, fictional business Drag the handle or use the arrow keys to compare an outdated homepage with the same painting business redesigned. Kettle & Brush Painters doesn't exist; the layout is the kind of site the plan builds.

Three sample designs in full

What is in the plan, and why each part is there

Eight parts, all in the one price. Each one exists because of how a homeowner, a property manager or a builder decides which painter to ring. The detail is on what is in the plan.

Quote requests

A quote form that asks about the job, not for a message

Inside or out, storeys, cladding, condition, suburb, timing and photos. Enough to price it or book a look without a phone call first.

Services

A page for each kind of work

The roof customer never has to scroll past bedroom photos.

Areas

Your suburbs, named

The first thing a local checks, on every page.

Colour advice

Colour consults, explained

What it covers and what it costs, so "we cannot decide" turns into a booking.

Reviews

Your real reviews only

Linked to Google, quoted with permission. Never written for you, never invented.

Looked after

Hosting, SSL and security updates inside the fee

No hosting invoice, no certificate to renew, nobody at your business logging in to update anything.

Every month

5 content edits and an enquiry report

New photos, a changed price, an added suburb, done for you. Plus a record of every enquiry the site took that month.

Not in the plan

  • Paid advertising, such as Google Ads, and the ad spend.
  • Logo or brand design.
  • Writing your content: you supply the words, photos and prices, and we lay them out.
  • Domain registration fees: the domain is registered in your business name and you pay the registrar.

Quick to open, built to be found

Most people look you up on a phone, often parked outside the house that needs the work. Two things matter there: the page opens, and it says something a search engine can match.

Quick to open

  • Pages built by hand, with very little script, so they open on one bar of signal outside a job.
  • Photos compressed and sized before they go up, because a gallery is the heaviest thing on a painter’s site.
  • Nothing loading in from other companies to slow the first screen down.

Built to be found

  • A page for each service and a page for your areas, so there is something specific to match a search.
  • Titles, descriptions and headings written for each page, not repeated across the site.
  • Business details in the code search engines read, and a sitemap that stays current.
  • Guides on this site explain the parts you control, such as your Google Business Profile.

No promise of a ranking, a score or a number of visitors, from us or from anyone who tells you otherwise.

From the first chat to a live site, in six coats

You send the content and check the result. We do the building, the launching and the keeping current. The 14-day clock runs from your content, so nothing sits waiting on us.

  1. Before you sign

    Have a chat

A short phone call about the work you do, the suburbs you cover and the photos you have. Price and terms in writing afterwards.

  2. At your pace

    Send your content

Answer the checklist in your own words. Photos straight from the phone. Rough notes are fine.

  3. Within 14 days

    We build it

The 14 days run from the day your content is complete, not from the day you signed.

  4. Before launch

    You check it

A private link. Look at it on your phone the way a customer would, and tell us what to change.

  5. Launch day

    It goes live

Domain pointed, quote form tested with a real enquiry. Your 12-month term starts here.

  6. Every month after

    We keep it current

Up to 5 changes a month, and a report of the enquiries the site took.

The cost in full

Three ways painters end up with a website

Do it yourself

A builder subscription and your evenings. Cheap in cash, and the site is only ever as current as the last quiet Sunday you had.

Pay for it once

A bigger bill at the start, then hosting, updates and every later change land back on you or on an hourly rate.

Have it run for you

Built around painting work, hosted, and changed when you send a text, for NZ$269 a month plus NZ$549 setup.

All four options, including staying on Facebook

See this built around your own jobs

Bring the work you did last summer and the suburbs you drive to. On the call we walk through the pages your business would have, the questions your quote form would ask, and what the gallery would look like with your photos in it.

painting and decorating enterprises were operating in New Zealand in February 2025, according to Stats NZ. With that many painters to choose from, the homeowner rings whoever answered their questions first.

Who you are dealing with

You deal with the person who builds it

No account manager between you and the work. The same person takes your checklist, builds the pages and makes your monthly changes.

What goes in this space later

When painting businesses have been on the plan long enough to have something real to say, their words and their sites go here, with their permission. Until then it stays empty rather than filled with invented praise.

What we will not do

Write reviews for you, promise a place on Google, build suburb pages for towns you do not work in, or sell your enquiries to anyone.

Built for your corner of the trade

Six questions painters ask first

The price, the term, the timing, and what we cannot promise.

Every question, answered in full

What does NZ$269 a month actually cover?

A website for your painting business, built from the content you supply and live within 14 days of us receiving it. It carries the parts painting work is sold on: a before and after gallery grouped by job type, a quote form that asks about the job, a page for each service you offer and a plain list of the suburbs you cover.

The monthly fee then pays for running it: hosting, the SSL certificate, security updates, up to 5 content edits a month and a monthly report of the enquiries the site received. Nothing is itemised on top apart from the one-off NZ$549 setup fee.

Is there a setup fee, and when is it charged?

Yes: NZ$549, paid once. It pays for building the site and is invoiced when you sign up. The monthly fee only starts from the month your site goes live, so you are never paying a monthly fee for a site that isn't up yet.

The setup fee isn't refunded once the build has started, except where the plan terms or the law say otherwise.

How long is the minimum term?

12 months from the day your site goes live. The setup fee and the monthly fees together pay for building and running the site across that first year, which is why the plan has a minimum term. It is stated here, on the pricing page and in the plan terms, so there is nothing to find in the small print later.

How long does it take to get my site live?

Within 14 days of us receiving everything on the content checklist. The clock starts at your content, not at the day you sign, so the sooner the checklist is back the sooner you are live. If something is missing we tell you what, straight away, rather than finding out on day ten.

What do I need to supply?

Your business details, the services you offer, the suburbs and towns you cover, before and after photos of your work, any prices or price guidance you want shown, your logo if you have one, and access to your domain. The content checklist on the How it works page lists every item, and you can tick them off as you go.

Will my website rank on Google?

We can’t promise any ranking, traffic or number of enquiries, and nobody honestly can. Google itself says there is no guarantee a site will be indexed, that changes can take from a few hours to several months to show, and that there is no way to pay for a better local ranking. What we do is build pages Google can read, with your services and suburbs clearly described, and keep them current.

See your painting business on a site built to win the quote

Book a call. We talk through the work you do, the suburbs you cover and the photos you already have, and you leave knowing exactly what the site would include, what it costs and what the terms say.

NZ$269 a month plus NZ$549 setup, GST may apply, 12-month minimum term. The call is free and there is no obligation. Online booking opens soon.

Get Painter Website builds and runs websites. We are not a painting or decorating business, and nothing on a site we build replaces your own judgement about a job, a surface or a price.
